Hapag-Lloyd Extends Europe-Asia Peak Surcharge

 

The surcharge, covering cargo shipped from North Europe to East Asia (including Japan), the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent, was originally scheduled to end July 31.

 

The subcontinent includes ports in IndiaPakistanBangladesh and Sri Lanka.

 

In other trade news, Singapore-based container carrier APL said it will implement a general rate increase on shipments from India to destinations in the westernMediterranean. The planned rate hike, which takes effect July 9 and lasts until July 31, will be $150 per 20-foot and $300 per 40-foot/high cube container.
